In collaboration with the Leitrim Local Studies, two Poetry as Commemoration workshops led by poet Mary Melvin Geoghegan will take place on
Tuesday 17 October from 11am -1pm
AND
Tuesday 24 October from 11am -1pm
Under the guidance of poet Mary Melvin Geoghegan and Local Studies Librarian Mary Conefrey, participants will respond to items selected from Leitrim Local Studies collection that relate to the War of Independence & the Civil War. Afterwards they will be invited to submit their writing to a special Poetry as Commemoration archive which will be housed in UCD Special Collections. Participants who have family stories or materials relating to the revolutionary period are invited to share these, but no family connection is necessary and all are welcome.
