In collaboration with the Sligo Central Library, two Poetry as Commemoration workshops led by writer Terry McDonagh will take place on

Wednesday 4 October from 12.30pm-2.30pm

AND

Wednesday 11 October from 12.30pm-2.30pm

During two 2-hour workshops, one week apart, participants will engage with and respond historical documents related to the War of Independence & the Civil War. Afterwards they will be invited to submit their writing to a special Poetry as Commemoration archive which will be housed in UCD Special Collections. Participants who have family stories or materials relating to the revolutionary period are invited to share these, but no family connection is necessary and all are welcome.

Please note that workshops take place across two days and participants should attend both workshops. All registered participants will be booked in to both workshops.

During two 2-hour workshops, one week apart, participants will engage with and respond to items from the museum collection related to the War of Independence & the Civil War. Afterwards they will be invited to submit their writing to a special Poetry as Commemoration archive which will be housed in UCD Special Collections. Participants who have family stories or materials relating to the revolutionary period are invited to share these, but no family connection is necessary and all are welcome.
