The Statue in Cloughjordan

by Amy Abdullah Barry

At sunset
in an eco-village town Cloughjordan,
I watch, transfixed,
sunlight leap
on the statue of a national hero,
teacher and poet

In the dazzling sunlight
Thomas MacDonagh
stares back at me
from the far past
times.
