In collaboration with Edgeworthstown Library and Longford Archives, two Poetry as Commemoration workshops led by poet Mary Melvin Geoghegan will take place on
Thursday 5 October from 11am -1pm
AND
Thursday 12 October from 11am -1pm
Under the guidance of poet Mary Melvin Geoghegan and archivist Martin Morris, participants will respond to items selected from Longford Archives that relate to the War of Independence & the Civil War. Afterwards they will be invited to submit their writing to a special Poetry as Commemoration archive which will be housed in UCD Special Collections. Participants who have family stories or materials relating to the revolutionary period are invited to share these, but no family connection is necessary and all are welcome.
