Join poet Luke Morgan for two FREE Poetry Workshops using letters, photos, and documents from Ireland 100 years ago as creative inspiration.
Saturday 27th May from 10.00am – 12.30pm.
AND
Saturday 3rd June from 10.00am – 12.30pm.
@ Kerry Writer’s Museum, The Square, Listowel
This two-session workshop looks looks at how poetry can guide our understanding of history, and how group discussion of archival source materials can broaden that understanding.
By using historical documents as the basis for discussion, poet Luke Morgan will guide a workshop group of young people and older people. This intergenerational approach looks at issues of legacy, the past, future and present and reminds us that we are all part of what Yeats called ‘the living stream’. Writers will later be invited to submit their work to a special Poetry as Commemoration archive which will be housed in UCD Special Collections.
Places are reserved for those in the 15-18 year old age bracket, with additional places for those older than 18.
No prior experience required. Participants should attend both workshops.
